Is Your Backup Good Enough?

As someone who has seen some hard crashes over the years, I believe that the game is a complete backup of your computer& 39;s hard drive should be an important part of your weekly (if not daily) routine. There is nothing more frustrating and costly than trying to return a computer with only a handful of floppy disk drives, a few scratches CD-ROMs or bad backup tapes stored.
All too often, I have been asked to try to get a home or office computer is working again, and then to find out that the backup (if any) consists of a few Word files, and perhaps a copy of some data?
Now what you might think & 39; s wrong with that? Are not the important files? Well, yes! But what about your e-mail, address book, all your desktop / Internet links, FTP settings, anti-spam & anti-pop-filters, etc.? They spend months, if not years to your PC and run just the way you like it, and in a split second it & 39; s all gone.
Now provided you have all backed up, just think of how long it is, even for an experienced technician to install the operating system and all applications such as MS Office, etc., and that is, if you find the original CD-ROM that came with your PC. Plus, what about the programs and updates that you downloaded from the Internet and on your hard drive now crashed. What a nightmare!
So best you can with what you have and your PC to some usable condition, but it will only be fully aware of how poor your backup really was and how much time and money is lost while you are waiting for your system to be restored, not to mention the repair bill.
But you might think of, backups take so long to secure, and how can you be sure your backing all necessary data? Well, as I see it, the only way you can guarantee that you always all your data, which means an image of your system (C:) drive.
By an image of your hard You are basically a snapshot or complete copy of the hard drive at a certain time, then you can use this image to your system drive with a few mouse clicks and in a fraction of the time than with anger & the previous example.
You need a second hard disk on your PC to store the image. I would recommend that an equal size on drive C:, you can drive with less storage capacity, but that would mean that you are likely to apply compression when creating the image.
You & 39; ll also need a backup software capable of creating images drive. There are numerous programs available, such as Acronis True Image and Norton Ghost from Symantec to name a few, and most of them you can schedule backups to run, even if you away from your PC.
With regular full backup image is created, stored, safely on a second drive from harms way, your thoughts to facilitate and focus on important tasks with greater security in the knowledge that when disaster strikes you will be more than capable. With a few mouse clicks you can restore the procedure, go for a short break (lunch, walk around the block, over a few phone calls, etc.), in the shortest time, up & running, as if nothing had ever happened.
Give you that extra piece of mind and do something, so that a reliable backup system, which right now because you know that it& 39;s not a question of if your hard disk crashes, but when, and are you prepared for them ?
